a sketch a day continues . . .

Have been experimenting more and more with extreme shadow lately, I love being able to draw a face using only large patches of black and only minimal deatail or shading.

a sketch a day . . .

Recently I decided to do one fashion illustration or sketch a day to keep my eye in and build up some personal work for my portfolio. I must admit that it has lapsed into a sketch every other day or so and ocasionally I forget for about a week and end up doing 5 or 6 in one everning! Anyway, I'll be posting some of my drawings as I go.

Quick sketches of Moss's and Esme's dresses made for the fashion show we put on a week or so ago

the smell of cinnamon makes everything better . . .

All on my own today so cheered myself up with a spot of baking:
Banana cake with extra cinnamon -pretty much everyone in my family loves a lot of cinnamon to the point where I'm not really sure what a normal amout is any more. The smell coming out of the oven was one of the loveliest things I have ever smelt, almost better than the actual cake.

Am having a bit of a panic at the moment concerning universities as I have two mini potfolio deadlines on the 20th for Central St Martens and LCF and I haven't got them finished yet, oh well, I'm sure it will get done, it usually does one way or another. Maybe I'll  have some more cake to make me feel better then write a list of all the things I have to do -I am a great believer in lists!

oh so many flowers . . .

How is it that we go for months without any flowers in the house and then 5 bunches come along at once? I love having flowers in the house, it makes up for the sad lack of vegetation outside.

Last week we had a flower project so the class room was full of an asortment of blooms, it looked and smelt the nicest it has ever been, that is, it did untill most of the flowers started to wilt and die which was sad.
On Friday afternoon Julia and I spent a happy ten minutes ransacking the girls' desks for abandoned flowers that were still alive, the result was the eclectic last bunch in the yellow vase.

Bellow are a few drawings and designs from the project, I loved it (though I think I was in the minority there); uneven splodges and drips of water colour and thin continuous line drawings are just my thing.

Not entirely sure where my fashion designs, developed from the flower drawings are going but they'll be floaty and layered and brightly coloured whatever the are!
